Students and lecturers of the Design Department of Latvian Academy of Arts continue to participate in international design activities in Europe!
From 15 to 31 October students of Functional Design, Environmental Art and Metal Design divisions of the Design Department of Latvian Academy of Arts Anda Mendriķe, Gita Baumane, Matīss Murovskis, Mārtiņš Plotka, as well as graduates Laura Danilāne and Inga Garniere will represent Latvia with their works at the 3rd International Lodz Design Festival in the section of school representation.
On 17 October, within the framework of the Lodz Design Festival, a lecturer of the Design Department of Latvian Academy of Arts Aija Freimane will give a lecture on prospects of Latvian design.
Latvian Academy of Arts was invited to participate in the 3rd International Lodz Design Festival together with such schools as Helsinki Academy of Arts (Finland), Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (Jerusalem, Israel), the Art School of Karlsruhe University, (Germany), the Art School of Northern Illinois University (USA), Nante School of Design (France) and several Polish art and design higher education institutions from Lodz, Katowice, Krakow, Poznan, Vroclaw and Gliwice.
Participation in the Lodz Design Festival is possible due to the support provided by the Lodz Art Centre and the Technology Transfer Contact Point in Design of Latvian Academy of Arts.
The Design Department of Latvian Academy of Arts is more and more evaluated and recognised on the international arena. It is becoming the leading higher education institution of art and design in the Baltics. Academic staff and students of the Design Department of Latvian Academy of Arts want to develop and prove their professionalism and competitiveness not only in Latvia, but also in Europe and worldwide.
