| An e-car will draw a CO2 map in Riga / 14.11. from 17:00 |
|
On Saturday, 14 November, the first stage of a series of CO2 E-Race Riga events – the creation of Riga CO2 map will take place in Riga. The project goal is to raise public awareness of global climate change and the global climate crisis in Latvia and worldwide, as well as to demonstrate solutions for its prevention by using the latest technologies.
The first stage of the CO2 E-Race Riga will start in Riga on 14 November by creating a CO2 map of Riga. The map will be created by using the electronic cars LYNX and HUMMER. Danish artist Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen, who is the author of the CO2 E-Race idea, will participate in it. He speaks about topical issues by using art and culture as means of expression. LYNX is a 100% environmentally friendly electric sports car. HUMMER is the first proportionally precise and officially licensed electronic car built according to the H3™ HUMMER™ sample and represents its brand.
From 17:00 the Riga CO2 map will be created by the e-car LYNX equipped with a GPS (global positioning system) which will help to watch the process of drawing the CO2 chemical formula online on the project homepage www.co2erace.lv and on various screens in Riga. The screens will be located on the Railway Station Square, on the junction of Brīvības and Vairoga streets, as well as in the territory of Spīķeri next to the Contemporary Art Museum KIM?. The homepage of the project CO2 E-Race Riga provides a more detailed description of the route.
On the same day at 16:00 in Spīķeri, in the premises of the Contemporary Art Museum, Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen will give a project presentation. After drawing the CO2 map, it will be possible to view the LYNX and other e-cars next to the Contemporary Art Museum KIM?, where visitors will have an opportunity to see interesting exhibitions regarding climate change until midnight
The CO2 E-Race Riga events will culminate in April when a race of electronic cars will take place at Biķernieki racetrack, and a car parade – in Riga, on the Embankment of 11th November and on Riga bridges.
The CO2 E-Race Riga events have been planned in connection with the UN Climate Change Conference COP 15 which will take place in Copenhagen from 7 to 18 December. The CO2 E-Race, like COP 15, will encourage people to pay more attention to climate change and to look for solutions. Latvia also actively participates in these events by organising seminars, conferences and a race of e-cars.
The project homepage www.co2erace.lv provides more information about the event of 14 November, as well as about other events of the project CO2 E-Race Riga.
Events of the project CO2 E-Race in Latvia are organised by the Danish Culture Institute in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia, the Embassy of the Danish Kingdom in Latvia, the Soros Foundation-Latvia and a map publishers Jāņa Sēta.
